Compilation CD’s
Rock On Promo was created back in 2008 to help promote local bands in the Northwest. Based in Preston, our aim is to help bands get heard by a wider crowd, get more gigs and to make fans aware of other bands that are out there. We started off creating compilation CD’s featuring some of the best bands in the Northwest and making everyone aware of whats out there.
Our 1st & 2nd CD’s were released under the name ‘Rock On Preston’ as ROP was originally set up mainly to support the Preston music scene, which at the time was struggling to find venues to showcase such great talent that Preston had to offer. The idea quickly caught on and ROP was spread over the Northwest, as you can imagine, the more to Rock On Promotions was greatly needed.
We have released just 3 CDs but are preparing to create the 4th in the series and are hoping to pump things up to create 2 a year. Get in touch if you want to feature on our next CD
Gigs
In 2009, ROP Started to put on gigs in Preston, giving bands yet another platform to push their musical sklls. For over a year we were putting gigs on @ The Ship Inn, Preston where we held the 2010 Battle of The Bands (GET IN THE RING) which little did I know was going to start something big. We later teamed up with one of our CD Sponsors (HW Music, Preston) who were extremely passionate to support unsigned bands. It was from this partnership that we created ‘Ready To Rumble Unsigned’ another BOTB but this time on the scale it should have been. It ran in 2011, attracted 120,000 web hits in the 1st month, attracted 180 bands to apply and over 15,000 votes to see 1 band winning a spot in the final 16. The event was held at 53Degrees in Preston and we had some great support from Monster Energy Drinks, Ibanez, Tama, Zildjan, Laney, Rotosound, Evans & Videoink. To date this had been one of the most successful campaigns for Unsigned bands I had ever seen. After RTR Unsigned, ROP and HW stayed together and wanted to give the fans more. RTR Events was set up and started putting on 1 or 2 gigs on every month, this lead us to create Rampage Preston, Currently @ Roper Hall every Friday night, featuring 3 live bands followed by a Clubnight.
ROP Records
This was never in anywhere near our original plans for helping bands but seemed like the next logical step to take. After running 2 successful BOTB’s, ROP had offered the winning bands Free online distribution contracts. In early 2011, we made ROP Records Official, and although we have a long way to go, we already have a string of artists currently on the label which were working with constantly to help take the bands to the next level.
Everything Else ROP
